Hi I have been recomended both woodbury common and jersey gardens for discount shopping and was wondering which of thes you would recommend.

I will mainly be looking for shoes and handbags!!!!

The conventional wisdom is, if you%26#39;re here for a short visit (esp for first timers), don%26#39;t blow a day in a shopping mall, Instead, enjoy NYC and the discount stores here. No NYC sales tax on items under $110.

If you have a day to spare head to Woodbury Commons (I wouldn;t advise this for a trip of under 5 days, there are so many discount places downtown).

Personally I thought Jersey Gardens was a real waste of an afternoon. Woodbury won hands down but it%26#39;s a full day thing and a waste of a precious day in New York if you%26#39;re on a short trip.

Consider stores like Macys and Bloomingdale for shoes/handbags etc.

There may be sales on.

Take a passport with you and you can get discount cards. Macys give 11% off to foreign visitors.

Neither will save you a great amount of money and both will cost you travel fare and time away from Manhattan. Shoes and handbags abound in Manhattan at great prices. Filene%26#39;s Basement, Century 21, Macy%26#39;s, Bloomingdales plus wonderful boutique and speciality stores around town.
