Hi Guys,
I%26#39;m sure there have been many posts on this before but can anyone give me any information on what needs to be done in order to get married in the big apple?
I proposed to my girlfriend on Christmas day and having visited the city together before we have always said that we would like to get married there.
Are there any brits out there that have got married in New York? Can I be cheeky and ask how much it cost? Where did you go for your wedding breakfasts? Any recommendations?
Anything on this topic would be great!
Thanks,
Andy.
Getting Married in New YorkHiya, have a read through my trip report.
We got the licence on Day three and got married on Day four if you want to skip to the relevant bits.

Getting Married in New YorkHi Andy,
We%26#39;re also getting married in New York - in May so it%26#39;s coming round quickly!
Cost wise, it depends if you do it yourself or go through a travel agent. I%26#39;d strongly recommend orgainising it yourself. We looked at travel agent packages and they didn%26#39;t really represent good value for money.
It%26#39;s been a piece of cake to organise - we%26#39;ve got an officiant doing the ceremony in Central Park - you%26#39;re looking at anywhere between $400 and $500 for an officiant. Don%26#39;t forget the cost of the license as well but that%26#39;s not a large sum. Check out this link -http://www.health.state.ny.us/vital_records/married.htm
For Officiants try Pastor Mike http://www.pastormikeweddings.com/ or April http://www.churchofancientways.org/
Mike was our original choice but he was unfortunately booked on our wedding day. We%26#39;ve gone with April and can recommend either as they%26#39;ve both been very helpful.
Alternatively, you can marry in the city hall (I think thats the right name for it?) which I think might be cheaper.
We%26#39;ve booked a photographer, Jack Slomovits, for $800 (prices have gone up a little since we booked) and I can%26#39;t speak highly enough of him - www.aweddingphoto.com/packages.php鈥?/a>
We are having the We Do package which is perfect for us as it%26#39;s for a small number of guests.
Then were are heading to the Boathouse for drinks after the ceremony and onto the River Cafe for dinner. I spent lots of time checking out posts on Trip Advisor which has been invaluable in the planning.
The whole wedding, including dress, suit, accessories, shoes, hotel for 7 nights, return flights, license, photography, meal, invitations and wedding rings, has come to just over 拢5K.
Hope this helps!
This is fantastic information - thank you very much!
I will pass this information on to my wife to be....
Funnily enough, her name is Ange too. Andy and Ange!
Hehe! Great! You%26#39;ll make a great couple!
