I always get GREAT help! Trying again.....

My mother and youngest daughter (15) will once again head to NYC for a couple of days. We travel by train from New Haven early on Saturday, Jan 13 (It is the Martin Luther King Jr holiday). We have reservations at The Belvedere. (We%26#39;ve stayed here before and it works out well).

Can I run my itenerary by people and get some feedback?

We will take the shuttle from Grand Central and drop off our bags at the hotel. Then, we want to head down to Battery Park and go to Ellis Island. My daughter was only 3 years old the last time we did the trip so she doesn%26#39;t remember a thing.

Should we order tickets on line and pick them up at ';will call'; or should we buy them when we arrive? The website says arrive 2 hours prior to departure???? Is that really necessary? We probably will get there around 11:00 or so, so I guess we are in the second ';time ticket'; slot for 10:34 - 1:45. I don%26#39;t really understand how this works?

We would like to stop at Century 21 for some shopping but we want to get back to The Belvedere for 4:00 PM. We can check in then and change and get ready to go out to eat before the theatre. We have tickets to Spelling Bee at 8:00 PM. We are thinking of walking to vynl which would be near to our hotel for dinner. My daughter thinks it looks cool and the menu is varied for all of us.

I forgot---- what might we do for some food for lunch? I hate the thought of eating at the cafeteria at Ellis Island (unless for some reason it is very good!) but I don%26#39;t think we can eat at a restaurant with our schedule.

After the theatre, we would love to go to the lounge at the Marriott Marquis for dessert./drinks.

The next morning we may try mass at St. Patricks at 9:00 AM only having coffee/juice prior and rush to Sephora for opening at 10:00 AM. My daughter received a gift card for Christmas and she would love a ';make up consultation';. It doesn%26#39;t seem like you can make an appointment but just walk in?

We really wanted to go to Carmines and the only reservation I could get was for lunch at 11:30 on Sunday so that is what we are planning to do. After Sephora, we would head to Carmines for an early lunch.

Then we plan to go to either The Met, The Frick or Museum of the City of NY. My daughter hasn%26#39;t been to any and I thought I would have her poke around on the websites to see the exhibits. Any thoughts?

Oh, we do want to do ROTR at some point during the day. Hmmm. I%26#39;m not sure when we could but we did ESB the last time at night. We would all like to see the great view of Central Park.

We would catch the train at Grand Central at 5:07 or 5:34 and we love to grab something from the great food court (pizza and cheesecake) to take on the train.

We%26#39;ll need to head back to the Belvedere after the museum to pick up our luggage.

Can we do all this? Any thoughts?

Thanks, as always, for great help!

Wow, thats alot to do. I guess you aren%26#39;t looking for a relaxing weekend, hah?

Most people report that Ellis Island takes a few hours - including standing on line, security, the boat, etc - to do it justice. Not sure you%26#39;ll be able to give Century 21 your undivided attention if you want to be back at your hotel at 4pm. But, I%26#39;d say play it by ear, and see how it goes.

Carmine%26#39;s is notorious for huge portions, so perhaps you should under-order?

Since your girl has not been to any of the museums mentioned, I%26#39;d go to the Met for the ';wow factor';. But be prepared for crowds on Sunday afternoons!

In general, I%26#39;d say take a deep breath and don%26#39;t worry if you don%26#39;t get to do everything. Gotta leave something for your next visit!

forgot to mention - if you want to grab a slice of pizza after Centruy 21, go to Conca Cucina, on the corner of Murray Street and West Broadway. (NOTE: Broadway and West Broadway are two diff streets. The are parallel.)

It looks really dumpy, but they make a mean slice! Cheap, too!
