We have just begun planning a girls trip for early December 2007. In looking at airfare, we can choose between JFK and LG. Which should we use? We are only going to be there about 4 days and plan to see a show, shop, look at the windows, etc. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also open to any ideas about where a couple of 40 year old ladies should stay. Thanks! Cindy
Which Airport?
I always say use the airport that provides you with the best flight times %26amp; fares.
Which Airport?
People will say it doesnt matter - but I submit that LGA has delays more often than JFK or Newark... I fly in/out of there only on business and am guaranteed a 1 hr delay minimum every time! If you%26#39;re routing through O%26#39;Hare for any strange reason, you%26#39;re guaranteed an hour delay in/out of there and then again at LGA.
LGA%26#39;s position on the water makes for lots of wind/weather delays.
I spent hours on the FAA web site monitoring flights that Wednesday before Thanksgiving (I was flying out of JFK and the weather was bad). LGA and Newark had 45 min -2 hour delays; JFK was on time. Obviously, this was one day, but doubt its an isolated incident.
JFK also has the cheaper/easier mass transit route into Manhattan. You can do mass tran from LGA, but its long/round-a-bout. Cabs are cheaper though from LGA unless you sit in major traffic.
