Christmas decorations

If I was to visit NYC between December 1st and 5th would all the Christmas decorations be up by then?

On the other hand, I was just in Rockerfeller Center and I saw the X-mas tree was already been taken down. A policeman told me it taken down on Monday right after Little Christmas (December 6th when the Magi arrive with gifts). Or maybe...just maybe...it was stolen ? Afterall, New York is tough town.
