Hi Everyone,
I am helping plan a trip to New York for 3 ppl. One has been before and the other two are 1st timers. I have been twice and am of the opinion that staying in Tribeca would give a great %26#39;New York Experience %26#39; rather than staying in Midtown among office buildings. However the argument could be made that for a first time trip to New York a midtown boutique hotel would be a better option (closer to the %26#39;shops%26#39; and tourist attractions).
HELP PLEASE....
We are tossing up between 1) TriBeCa Grand Hotel, 2) City Club, 3) The Blakely, 4) The London. 2 bedroom suites at most of these.
What do you think? Midtown or TriBeCa? 1,2,3, or 4?
I would love to hear what you have to say...
'New York Experience' - TriBeCa Grand or Midtown Boutique?
I%26#39;m of the impression that no hotel is near everything and you can travel by subway, cab, bus and foot to get anywhere you want to go, so where you stay is up to you and your personal preferences. I would stay in Tribecca if my focus of the trip was Tribecca, otherwise not sure I would or wouldn%26#39;t.
The London used to be the Rihga and has been renovated and now is also the home of Gordon Ramsay%26#39;s new restaurant. If you stay there you can get GR room service and I believe first crack at dining in his restaurant... not a bad little perk if that is something your guests might enjoy. I would think this would be a very nice place to stay. So I%26#39;d probably opt for that.
'New York Experience' - TriBeCa Grand or Midtown Boutique?
Hi ticook,
As a resident of Tribeca, I%26#39;m probably biased, but I would stay at the Tribeca Grand. Your first-timer friends will get to experience NYC like a local (Midtown is like a different country to me :-) with great restaurants, great shopping and a relaxed, family-oriented environment. Midtown is easily accessible via the A/C/E train right outside the doors of the hotel and you can walk to Soho, WTC, Wall Street, Battery Park/Statue of Liberty ferry, which they%26#39;ll probably want to see anyway.
If you%26#39;d like restaurant, nightlife, shopping or site-seeing recommendations, feel free to email me - ivonnenyc @ gmail . com
Enjoy your trip!
I think it depends on the people involved, time of year and how long the stay is for. I don%26#39;t really think the Tribeca Grand is a good option period, but one of the boutique hotels in Soho (the Mercer, 60 Thompson, Soho Grand) might be fun.
They will be in New York for one week, and Providence/ Boston for another during the last week of march and the first week of april. I believe it will still be quite cold.
It will be a party of two 50+ women and a 22 year old guy.
Any other comments?
