seating at August Wilson theater

Hi

Just been looking for tickets for Jersey boys and best available are orchestra row W partial view. As I don%26#39;t know the theater, can anyone tell me if it%26#39;s worth paying top price for these seats? Thanks

It%26#39;s up to you.

The Jersey Boys are a hit show in a smaller theater so tickets are hard to come by.

Others have reported paying $240+/ticket for a full view ticket from scalpers and have proclaimed it worth the money!

It%26#39;s a wonderful show, but, honestly, nothing is worth that kind of money. I used to be able to see lots of shows, but no more, as the prices have skyrocketed because most theater-goers are tourists who are willing to pay exhorbitant prices for a one-time experience. Maybe if people would stop shelling out top dollar, producers would find a way to bring the ticket prices back down a bit. (I know, I%26#39;m dreaming!) But top price for partial view? No way!

My tickets for Jersey Boys were Left Orchestra, Row W, Seats 1-3.

When we first sat down, we thought they were perfectly fine seats. Then two extremely tall people sat in front of us; then two extremely tall people sat in front of them!

I realized at that time there is no slope (or seemingly none) between Row W and the row in front.

Had there been only two tall people, perhaps we could have found a little gap, but with *four,* it was hopeless.

We could not lean out to the aisle and peer around because our row was shorter to the right.

My guess is I saw an average of only twenty per cent of the stage.....

.....which was the ';right'; show for such a situation, if that had to happen, as the music is the attraction; the sets, choreography, and costuming were almost non-existent.

If that had been my only Broadway show of the trip, I would have been extremely disappointed. Fortunately we had excellent to good seats for the other shows.

Hope this information is helpful!

we had row x, partial view, only paid $76. It was fine, The theater is small. We were unable to see the upper half of the actors when they were elevated above our sight-line as part of the show is on a higher level. But really did not detract from our enjoyment. Most of the show is out front and center...don%26#39;t miss it . It is awesome..I plan on seeing it again in Oct. when it travels to Chicago. And the soundtrack they sell is great too.

Just want to say thanks for all the replies - really helpful. For the Uk there%26#39;s a really good website that helps you choose theatre seats: http://www.theatremonkey.com/ but I haven%26#39;t found the equivalent for Broadway. So it%26#39;s been really helpful to ahve your feedback.

theatermania.com or broadwaybox.com both offer seating charts when you click on a show that is of interest. You can see what seats are being offered either online or when speaking with a representative. The reps I%26#39;ve dealt with are most helpful and will indicate if seats are full or partial view.

Give these two sites a try!

Hey Jillian 29 - I%26#39;m thinking about Xpartial row tiks as well. How much, would you guess, of the play took part with the partial view you mentioned? Thanks so much!

I would say, like 15-20% , if it is your only chance then I would say go for it....I had 4 seats to buy, so money was an issue, but with the x seats, you can lean forward and see all the stage for the moments the performers are elevated. Its a small theater. Enjoy the show!

Having been in NYC this past weekend, I walked up to the Box Office on Saturday afternoon and got a 12th row ticket for the SUnday Matinee- face value ( $120). I%26#39;ve never tried to get tickets before, so I%26#39;m not sure if I was lucky, or maybe it was because I was only looking for a single ticket-

THere were 2 empty seats in the row in front of me as well.

WHen I looked online for tickets prior to my trip, I came up with nothing.

According to the theatre, they are sold our until Feb 2008.
