Reasonably Priced Hotels in Manhattan?

We are a couple travelling from the UK to NY in April 2007. It will be our first visit and we are looking for reasonably priced hotels in the manhattan area.

We have trawled through the TA pages but can%26#39;t seem to find anything that appeals as a really good deal.

We want somewhere modern and well located but don%26#39;t really want to pay more than about $150 a night.

Does such a pace exist?

Any recommendations people have are very welcome. Thanks in advance for your support.

I%26#39;ve booked for one in the Upper West Side from the site http://www.purelyamerica.co.uk/ worked out 拢100 a night

There are some cheaper ones on teh site but it all depends what you want and the location

Modern, well located (and I assume clean) for under $150 ($129+tax comes to $149.75) does not exist in manhattan. April is a pretty busy period. You could try priceline (see betterbidding.com first). While hotel rooms are expensive here (average rate last year was well over $250+tax/night) you will save money on transport (subway+bus pass for one week for one person is $24). If you can deal with shared baths try the hotel larchmont : http://www.larchmonthotel.com/rates.htm
