Marriott Marquis or W Times Square

Please help me decide on which one to book ? I am travelling to New York in May as a surprise to celebrate my daughters 15th birthday. We love staying in really nice hotels and i know if it was just me and hubby we would stay in the Ritz Carlton or the Mandarin but the kids would adore the mad hustle and bustle of times square and it would be great for visiting the theatres in the evenings. I just wondered if anyone out there had been in the rooms, just worried that the pics on the hotel websites show the Marriott as looking a bit old fasioned and miserable and the W rooms look great in the pics but i have read in the reviews that the rooms are tired and in need of renovations. I know i%26#39;m a sad fool and shouldn%26#39;t worry so much about the room but it is really important to us to have a nice base to go back to at the end of a busy day and we really appreciate some WOW factor. Will be booking two interconnecting rooms and have been offered two spectacular rooms at the W (thats the name of the room type!) and an executive suite and an interconnecting queen bedded room at the marriott. Any info on these rooms would be appreciated.

Marriott Marquis or W Times Square

My husband and I stayed at the W Times Square in August. I had a wonderful experience. Our room was great and had a great view. I asked the person at the counter on check in about upgrading to a room with a view and it was only about $35 more a night. It was well worth it. I can%26#39;t remember the name of the type of suite we had, but it may have been the spectacular. Not sure, but it was a corner room. The halls are really dark with red carpeting, which I can see people not really like, but I thought they are kind of cool. It is fun for an experience. It definitely has a New York feel!

The beds were comfortable with down comforters and nice pillows. My bathroom was very contemporary with a stand up shower.

The W has Bliss products which are wonderful, and the place just has a really good smell to it when you are in the lobby. It sounds wierd, but it is true.

I have also stayed at the W on Lexington Ave. and had a good experience there, but the W Times Square was great and I would definitely stay there again if given the chance.

It is in a great location and has a really cool vibe to it. I wish my parents took me to NYC when I was 15!! I hope this helps, and you have a great time!
