Thank You !

I love your city!

We just got back from our Xmas weekend in NY. Thank you all for contributing to the delight of our trip! We went to:

Rockefeller Center..night and day..beautiful and crowded

Grand Central Station..walked around and had excellent cheese cake at Junior%26#39;s

Bryant Park and Times Square

Radio City Music Hall..fabulous show..one I could see year after year..we were 5 th row

Ground Zero

Chinatown...Grand Sichuan, great and inexpensive

Xmas Eve at a St Thomas Epicopal on 5h Avenue..wonderful male choir

Citi Group Center Atrium..saw the train exhibition

Central Park

Cite..took the wine menul..watch out for the extra charges on side order..lots of wine

Carmine%26#39;s

Lou%26#39;s Cafe

LCB Brasserie..my absolute favourite..food was delicious and because we moved tables were given a free excellent bottle of wine.

Virgil%26#39;s

Everyone was so friendly. We walked blocks and blocks.

My only remark is that I was flamed on this board for asking about knock off purses. I now understand why. But my question is...why are knock off purses, scarves, watches etc. sold on nearly every corner netween 5th and 6th and 55th and 42nd. This is done in full view of the police. Why are they allowed to do this. Am I missing something/

Anyone, again thank you all!!

Thank You !

You sure did a lot and I am so happy you enjoyed it, even with the crowds and the mess that comes with them.

There are many street vendors who have valid licenses to sell their items, that may be why they were in full view of the police and not bothered.

Believe me, when they are illegal, and they see the police, they literally scoop up their items in their blanket or towel and move away pretty fast.

By the way, I visited your beautiful city a few months ago and loved it, too!!!

Thank You !

DMK,

You did some great stuff! My thoughts on the knockoffs have more to do with visitors traipsing all the way to Chinatown and going into a stranger%26#39;s apartment...all for the sake of a cheap handbag.

Some people are too trusting and aren%26#39;t aware that this is a real safety concern. As you noted there are licensed street vendors and cheap handbags can be bought on any street corner. Better yet, get a visitor%26#39;s discount coupon and buy handbags on sale at Macy%26#39;s. You%26#39;ll get a great deal and the real thing to boot.

Sorry if you felt flamed. By posting a follow up to your trip you show real class. Thanks!

I%26#39;ll also add, I love Montreal too. Went there for my honeymoon. People were very friendly. A lot of fun things to do and enjoy there..

NYCgirl and Voyagereuse:

Thanks for all your consideration. It makes me feel proud that you both enjoyed Montreal. If either of you plan another trip here, let me know. I will help you enjoy my city as much as I enjoyed yours!

Thanks for the recap, and I agree: thanks for understanding why some of us respond strongly about the knock-off purse issue.

BTW, I never made it to Joe%26#39;s Shanghai with my visitors, so I couldn%26#39;t give you a review before you left. Glad you found Grand Sichuan and enjoyed it!

Come back again soon!

We are staying near Times Square in March. So I know the knock off purses are a real issue for some but I am going to ask anyway because my niece wants a Coach bag and I cannot see paying the real $$ for a young girl so I was thinking of getting her a knock off. I would never go into an apt like some have mentioned but the are there street vendors near Times Square selling them?

^When I was in New York I noticed them mostly around 5th Avenue and the Empire State Building. They all have walky talkys and suddenly you see them scoop up their sacks and scamper off really quickly.

I wondered the same thing because you see police everywhere in New York!

Glad you had a great trip.
