St Patricks Day in New York

Can anyone tell me,what happens,where to go,what to do etc on the 17th March (saturday) ? Does St Patricks Day effect the whole weekend ?

Although the residuals may drift well into the evening, everything else runs pretty much as usual....the parade is on the 17th, goes up Fifth Avenue, and begins sometime in the morning for 2-3 hours (approx) ending early afternoon....you needn%26#39;t change any plans you already have as they really won%26#39;t be affected ....traffic, mainly on the UES tends to get a bit backed-up.. so other than some usual parade traffic....Enjoy!

Agreed, it is easily avoidable, but it is just as easy to find Irish parties, music, bars (or bars that ';become Irish'; for the day!)

I think the parade is fun, as long as the weather is good!

Seriously, the parade is fun, bars (really any bar) is packed from early until closing. It%26#39;s on a Saturday this year so it will be probably be even more crowded (people don%26#39;t have to work). The bars on the UES, where the parde ends, are especially packed. There also should be college basketball on (March Madness, a big thing in the US) which adds to the festivities
