Right time to Book Hotels

I know there is lots of discussion on this board about the cost of hotel rooms and many suggest priceline. However, we are planning a weekend in NYC arriving June 29 and leaving July 1, there may be 4 couples, therefore we need 4 rooms. Will the hotels drop their prices between now and the end of June or are we best to ';bite the bullet'; and just book something now. Any advice would be great.

I%26#39;d book something cancellable now definatley, that way if you see a bargain nearer the time you can change your booking. If you dont book now you may not get the hotel you like....

I agree, book something that%26#39;s cancellable and then keep checking travelzoo and quikbook. I would also doublecheck the rules on Priceline. YOu may be able to book 4 rooms at a time at the same hotel. If you don%26#39;t mind staying at one of the larger hotels like the Hilton NY, you might even contact them directly to see if they%26#39;d give you a group rate if you don%26#39;t want to bother bidding. I checked Affinia.com (suite hotels) and see some nice rates for the Affinia 50 (around $200/night for a suite or less for a regular room).
