hotel sites which are fully cancellable?

Hi!

I wanted to book a fully cancellable reservation while I continue to look for the perfect hotel, as I assume prices will go again by my trip dates in April. Am I correct in thinking that quikbook.com is the best site for this?

Thank you

If you book direct via the hotel websites and dont book the advanced purchase rate, they should be fully refundable. Thats what I did with Marriott Hotels, and ended up booking with InterContinental Group ( InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Express) nearer the time.

Regardless of the site, always read the refund/cancellation policy w/each rate before booking....chances are the most economical rate is more restrictive or carries more penalties but not always:) Enjoy!

What%26#39;s been posted so far is true. If you book directly with the hotel by phone or on their own website, unless it%26#39;s a smaller hotel/b %26amp; b or a special non cancellable rate, the room is generally cancellable within 24 hrs. of the stay with no penalty. They take your credit card info at booking time to hold the room and will charge you one night%26#39;s stay IF you don%26#39;t show up or cancel within the alloted time.

MOST of the rates on quikbook.com are cancellable. Look for it to say ';book now, pay later'; near the price. Occasionally you%26#39;ll see a ';prepay rate'; which is NOT cancellable.

And one more thing....

some sites do charge a ';service charge'; that is NOT refundable, it is usually about $25

Even the discounters like expedia have rooms you can book that are non-cancellable...the offers vary. And, I%26#39;m finding more and more the hotels themselves are offering a lower rate if you book direct and are willing to commit to a non-cancellable reservation (Sofitel, for one).

I%26#39;m always willing to pay a few dollars more for the cancellable reservation.

But, pretty much everyone these days has a 24-48 hour period prior to arrival date where you will be charged if you cancel. Hotels have let me out of that charge when stuck due to snow, but its their perogative.

Excellent. Thank you so much for all your advice. This is my first trip to NY...my first trip out of Australia actually, and I%26#39;m just wanting to make sure that everything is as close to perfect as I can get!

So thanks again to everyone for being so understanding, even when my questions probably seem a little ';stupid'; :)

I have booked a cancellable reservation through quikbook.com for the Washington Jefferson Hotel. More than what I had intended to pay, so I will hopefully find something more suitable before April :)
