Thanks to everyone who responded to my original post, ';What to do, What to do?'; I received a lot of useful information. I do have more questions about the ESB.
I almost bought tickets on line to save some time in line but the sight stated the tickets are only for the 86th floor and tickets for the 102nd (I think that was the floor) can not be purchased on line. I am assuming that is the top. Is the vew that much better from the top floor? Should I wait to purchase tickets just in case it is foggy and we will not be able to see anything anyway?

I would wait, and I would not spend the extra $$ for the 102nd Floor.
Just my opinion.

We bought ours ahead of time, but there wasn%26#39;t a line when we went (early in the morning) so it didn%26#39;t save much. I debated between the 86 %26amp; 102, but ended up just going for the 86. Great view, and I don%26#39;t regret not going higher.
The 102nd floor is a tiny little circular room with very small windows. At that height 16 floors are not going to make a difference, I was a little suprised when I learned they had started charging extra for it.
Thanks for the help. I will not be buying the tickets ahead of time, just in case the weather turns bad.
We bought our tickets in advance for ESB and we didn%26#39;t have to use them on one specific day - they can be used any day.
We always buy in advance to try and save a bit of time
Thanks Manicsfan. I remember reading that, now that you mention it. I think you may have changed my mind!
Almost everything I have read on visiting the ESB has mentioned that the upper level observation desk is not worthwhile.
My Frommers guide also states this.
I think I%26#39;m just going to stick with the 86th floor deck, and I am buying a Citypass so I gain entry to ESB with that.
I love the EBS the view from the 86th floor is perfect, like Cbcito says the 102nd floor is a tiny room.not really impressed been there stick with the 86th.
