Buffalo

We are planning on visiting Niagara Falls in March 2007 and would also like to visit Buffalo USA. As we will have a rental car, is it possible to enter the USA with a Canadian rented car? (Dollar Rental company) what about insurance cover? If not, is there a bus service or organised tour? How far is Buffalo from Niagara Falls?

Kind Regards

Howard Jones

Yes you should be able to take a Canadian rented car into the U.S., but check with the rental company to be sure. Your own car insurance may cover you for driving in Canada and the U.S., but if not, buy the insurance from the rental company, and again, check about going to the U.S.

Buffalo is about a half hour drive from Niagara Falls (20 miles)

I am pleased that you want to visit and welcome you. The best option is to rent a car, keep in mind you can literally walk across the bridge to the USA from the Falls if you are concerned about border crossings. If renting, rent on the US side although I am confident you will have no issues with cross border driving. Bus service from the Falls may be a bit of a hassle and Buffalo truly is not the most walkable city in general. If spending a day, plan on enjoying the downtown area nightlife and dining in the Chippewa/Allentown area. Let me know if you would like some dining tips or other.

Hi Buffalonian

Thanks for the information, sorry I am late in responding as I have just returned from a holiday in Greece.

Any tips on dining areas would be most appreciated.

Kind regards

Howard Jones.
