Big apple greeter, what to expect?

hi we have put in a request for a big apple greeter but i%26#39;am not really sure what to expect (i know that a request does not mean you will def get one) i have selected greeter choice but said we are also interested in all the touristy things, how long do you spend together, as you are not allowed to give money can you take them for lunch or drinks (soft) etc.

Big apple greeter, what to expect?

We had a BAG two years ago.

He met us at our hotel near Battery Park and we did a walking tour of ground zero, battery park, some old buildings near the fish market, little italy (where we stopped for ice cream), China town, then we walked up to SOHO with him.

We basically just walked and talked, he asked what we wanted to do, and we said we were happy for him just to take us where ever he enjoyed. He asked if we minded walking, which we didnt%26#39;.

I paid for our ice creams, and he seemed really grateful (which was weird because it was the least I could do, even if he wasn%26#39;t a BAG, anybody I was with I would offer some kind of refreshment, but this guy was taking time out of his life to make our vacation more enjoyable!).

I%26#39;m not sure if this was NYC or SF, but, one greeter gave us some rail cards for free.

Thanks Andrew, i was a little worried they would turn up and look for us to say what we wanted to do, like you i will leave it them.They must have a real love for their city to give up their time like that!
