I have traveled in Europe, and am not too freaked out by a shared bathroom. (Well at least it was a swell ide for saving money 35 years ago.) But have not been in a shared bathroom situation in NYC. Would this work with a child, or would it be just too grubby/weird/ dangerous?
I wouldn%26#39;t allow her to leave our room by herself.
Shared bathrooms with a child?
Personally, I wouldn%26#39;t stay in a shared bathroom with a child. For one thing if your child has to go to the bathroom several times at night s/he would need you to be an escort. That said, take a look at the reviews for the Chelsea Lodge posted here under ';hotels';. A poster stayed there a few months ago. Their room had a shower and sink in it but the shared toilet was out in the hall.

I loved Chelsea Lodge it was so clean and quiet. I agree it would be tough having to get up with your child through the night but I%26#39;d say it was do-able. The rooms are small though and wouldn%26#39;t work if there were 3 of you.....
