can anyone tell me if i can use my normal Bank of Ireland laser (meastro cirrus) card to pay for things in the US. we have used it all over Europe but when in the UK at Christmas couldnt use it except to get money out at an ATM. I hate carrying money around so it was a major inconvenience. also, could someone please tell me whether you need a PIN number for your credit card in USA or whether you still just sign for it. i have 2 credit cards but one i dont know the PIN and not sure if i can get a new one in time.

I%26#39;m pretty sure you can use your cirrus at most places, and just sign for it. I only use a PIN number for my cash card, you can%26#39;t get money from an ATM without a PIN number. But you might want to check with your bank just to be sure.

If it has the master card symbol you should be fine. Use ATMs to take out money (if its a debit card).
Have a Visa credit card for back up.
In my last trip to the States last summer they did not have Chip %26amp; Pin but they wanted photo id. I took my driving licence.
I%26#39;ve never used my Laser in the US. If you%26#39;re worried about carrying cash why not pre load your credit card with cash?
A new pin takes 3-5 days so you may have enough time
