EWR to Grand Central - bus or train?

Three moms and 3 kids - arriving EWR at 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon. Is it best to take public transport (Airtrain toNJRR to Penn Station and then walk to GC) or the bus (Newark Airport Express) to GC. Is rush hour a factor for the bus (is it a factor going in to NYC?) - price is the same -

Thanks for any advice

Well......you%26#39;re arriving at the height of rush hour so train may be faster, but a lot more complicated. I think you should also consider a taxi or car service depending on the age of the kids. If they%26#39;re under 12, they ride free on the bus and going by bus directly to Grand Central is definitely easier and less stressful than the changing of trains that would be required. You wouldn%26#39;t want to walk from Penn Station to GC with luggage either so you%26#39;d need 2 taxis or subway (ugh not in rush hour). But if the kids are over 12, it might be better to get a car service. Where exactly are you going?

thanks nywhiz -

12 year olds -

I checked out one car service and it seemed expensive (over $150 one way)

Going to Grand Hyatt -

was wondering if rush hour is just as bad going into NYC as going out?

I don%26#39;t know which car service you checked, but have a look at limores.net

While traffic is not as bad coming into the city as going out, the problem is they make most of the lanes in the tunnel going out so it can take a while to go in. ;(

B/c there are 6 of you, you need a larger car so it may be the bus is the best option if the kids ride free.;)
