Domestic flights out of JFK

We will be in NY for 6 nights in April. We depart on 14th April (a Saturday) to fly to Hawaii (via LAX). I would like to how long before a flight do you need to be at the airport? Our flight leaves at 12.00pm. I have heard that you need to be at the airport 2 hours early, even for domestic flights. Is this correct?

The most reliable place to get the answer to your question is from your airline.

I agree with above, but typically it%26#39;s 2 hrs for domestic and 3 hrs. for international. But contact your airline or look on their website for info.

I haven%26#39;t flown out of JFK but fly EWR (Newark) - LAX at least once a year. Some times the lines move fast and sometimes not. I would agree with the 2 hour rule in order to be safe. This is especially true since the airlines are starting to board earlier than they did a few years ago so they can meet their schedule.

I always get there an hour early for domestic flights, but typically dont check luggage.

I have ignored that 2 hour/3 hour thing (except for the day before a major holiday) since they suggested it. I fly all the time, and am never one of those last to the gate types.

Some (international) airlines demand 2 hours in advance. I would check with your airline to be safe, but if they ';suggest'; 2 hours, you%26#39;re really safe with 1 - especially on a Saturday.

Your hotel business office, front desk and/or concierge can print your boarding pass out up to 24 hours in advance of your flight. Or you can get your boarding pass and check your luggage at the automated kiosk in the airport. It takes a few seconds.

It%26#39;s been my experience that checking luggage adds considerably to the time. Indeed, that%26#39;s where the real time is -- even with curbside checkin. In fact, I once spent 25 min in line at curbside checking, only to be told that I had to go inside after all for checkin
