Bway show for the whole family

I%26#39;m planning a summer trip and would like to bring the kids to their first broadway show. We have a 7 yr old daughter, two boys ages 9 and 11, and another daughter that is 13. Our teenager would love to see Wicked, but I%26#39;m not sure if the other kids would appreciate the show as much. Would Wicked be a good show for the whole family?

Other shows that we are considering are Lion King and perhaps, Mary Poppins. Does anyone know if the Lion King show at Disney World is a small taste of what the Broadway show is like? Thanks for your help.

Our friends brought their 7 and 10 year olds to Wicked and they loved it.

I%26#39;ve heard the Lion King on Broadway is nothing like the one at Disneyworld (B%26#39;way is much better), but I think for a first time B%26#39;way experience, something else would be better. Mary Poppins is supposed to be great but the boys may be unwilling to even admit they like it.;) There%26#39;s a new show scheduled to open before the summer that might be good, the Pirate Queen. Hairspray is a popular show for families too. I%26#39;m not sure about Wicked for the 7 yr old.

I%26#39;ll vote for ';Beauty and the Beast';. The romance will appeal to you and your teen while the costumes, makeup, and special effects will hold the attention of the boys. I think your youngest will be enthralled with EVERYTHING. (Honestly, I loved everything about it, too.) Have a great trip!

I';ve seen all of the above and think you won%26#39;t go wrong with any of them. I currently have a 16 year old son as well as a 14 yr old daugher.. TOok my daughter to see wicked, but don%26#39;t think my son would like it. WE all did see Lion king and Hairspray and everyoneloved them. My husband and I just saw Mary Poppins this weekend, and as the above poster commented, although the boys not might admit it, I think they would love it.

I can confirm what nywhiz said -- the Lion King on Broadway and the Lion King show (I think it is called The Festival of the Lion King, or something like that) at Disney World are completely different.

We saw Lion King in LA and it%26#39;s fantastic! The costumes, music and dance numbers are much, much more elaborate than the show at Disney, and I love that show. Maybe it%26#39;s just us, but I know my son vastly preferred the Lion King story over Beauty and the Beast. I%26#39;ve never had the good fortune to see Wicked but I%26#39;d love to!

Thanks for clearing up the question about the Disney World Lion King show verses the Broadway show. It sounds like Lion King or Mary Poppins would be the best for our family (although my teenage daughter will be v. disappointed about not seeing Wicked!). Thank you all for your replies.
