Broadway Show Ticket Strategy

I am interested in seeing a broadway show that will be a limited run, and I have been told that brokers usually buy all the good seats, and that the only way you can get a good seat is by purchasing before the general public with an American Express card - unless you can find a broker and pay exhorbitant prices.

Am I doomed to the rafters by purchasing a ticket when they go on sale to the general public two weeks after the American Express preview period?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

';Doomed'; is a little strong.

I wouldn%26#39;t give up. You don%26#39;t say if you are traveling alone or not. In either case, look for ';single tickets'; rather than pairs. You can often find 2 seats that are behind one another or ';behind and over a couple of seats';. You can often swap with people when you get there (so that you can be together) or, at the worst, sit apart and ';catch up'; at intermission.

You can only search for ';2 single tickets'; at a Ticketmaster location -- their online system does not offer that possibility -- or you can always check at the box office of the theatre.

Good luck!

What are your options? Do you have an AMEX card? Do you have a friend with an AMEX card? Which show? If you can be totally flexible on date, your chances are better.

I don%26#39;t have an AMEX Card, and not sure they would give me a gold card (excellent credit rating but mediocre income). Even if they would I wouldn%26#39;t have the card in my hot little hands - you apparently can%26#39;t just get the CC number. They have to mail it to you, etc. etc. By the time I get it, the advance period would probably have passed. (and I don%26#39;t really want the card to tell you the truth)

My friend%26#39;s brother might have a Gold Card, but she is not sure.

The show is Moon for the Misbegotten - playing April - early June.

We have Radio City Apartments booked 5/9-14 and given how fast they filled up (or so it seemed when we were looking at hotels), would really like those dates.

Funny, every place I looked except Playbill says it%26#39;s an open ended run. Anyway, here%26#39;s the info from Playbill. I%26#39;d register (for free) at Playbill and Theatermania for email offers in case they have any discounts. Otherwise, I%26#39;d start phoning on the day tix go on sale. Info here

It%26#39;s always easier for a weekday night and I%26#39;d imagine a Wed. matinee for this show might also be less busy.
