Hello again,
We have booked the Beekman Hotel for 5 nights 21st M arch. I would love to have time with Greeter ,
How much time do you allow to be with them?
Any ideas as to where to go?
This is our first time in New York I worked there as a Nannie in Brooklyn Heights 45 years ago!! so don%26#39;t remember a lot.
Thanks for help
big apple greeter
have u requested a greeter? i had a greeter- well supposed to have two but when we went to nyc last month the hotel didnt give us the message from him so we couldnt contact him in time :o(
the greeter i got in august- she was lovely and she walked me through times sq,rockafeller, chrysler building, trump towers, tiffanys, central aprk etc, she came to my hotel for 10am and we said goodbye at around 3.30-3,45ish and i had a blast.. the greeter i was supposed to get last time was to the DUMBO area and walk from brooklyn to manhattan over the lovely bridge.. no matter where your greeter takes you, you will enjoy what nyc has to offer :o)

I have requested a greeter. I asked to be shown around either East Harlem/El Barrio, Brooklyn or Jackson Heights/Queens.
I picked these particular areas because I would really love to explore these neighbourhoods but they were areas which I was a bit nervous about seeing on my own. Although many on here had said these areas were quite safe particularly if you stuck to the tourist parts, I still felt a little uneasy.
You can get lots more info on BAG%26#39;s web site, www.bigapplegreeter.org
You can expect a Greeter to share 2-4 hours, though many Greeters (myself included) end up spending more time than that.
Even with 300+ volunteers, not every request for a Greeter is filled. So try and be as flexible as possible. The best strategy is to request ';Greeter%26#39;s Choice'; -- that is, leave it up to the volunteer. You can then note your areas of interest.
Lots of luck to you.
Thank you for replies. I have booked a Greeter , maybe it will be you Bettina!
