You will find that in using this site you will get the most advice and the best advice when you ask very specific questions -- e.g., ';where is a good Thai restaurant in the East 30%26#39;s?';. On the other hand, vague questions -- such as ';what should I do when I am in New York City'; -- will not get much of a response.

I suggest you read your guide book, and read the trip reports of other people, and decide what YOU would like to do. Based on that, sketch out a list of things you think you might want to see, and then ask advice on that.

Perhaps you already have it, but this website has lots of good info for the downtown area where you will be staying.

Don%26#39;t worry about the weather, but do bring layers. Indoors it gets hot from too much heat and outdoors it can be blustery, especially downtown where it gets windy.

I%26#39;d suggest you plan to do one overview tour like

once you know that asking direct questions are best!!this web site rocks.

stayed at the embassy suites in march.best time ever! so want to repeat it again in january.dont get too hung about staying in the financial district.to be honest just as much to see and do here as in midtown.

I%26#39;ve been there a few times with kids in that age range. The Marvelous Manhattan tour would be perfect for your family to get an overview, especially at that time of year when walking may not be as pleasurable. My kids all enjoyed Times Square at night, and they may enjoy eating at Ellen%26#39;s Stardust Diner. Also, you can eat at the Rock Cafe which has windows overlooking the ice skating in Rockefeller Center. Pick a sunny day to explore Central Park. My kids all hated waiting in the long lines at the ESB, so I%26#39;d recommend for a good view go to Top of the Rock instead which seems to have shorter lines. Are you taking them to any shows? I hope you all have an enjoyable visit/.

here%26#39;s a collection of trip reports by families with teens. Most were first-time vistiors. The earlier ones are from winter of last year.

Great idea!

BTW, you%26#39;re hotel is right next to our Irish Hunger Memorial. Quite a beautiful peice of sculpture.

Or, you can buy discounted same-day tickets at our two TKTS booths. One is a 15-min walk from your hotel, at the South Street Seaport. It opens earlier than the midtown booth, so you%26#39;ll have first dibs. (Also, it%26#39;s around the corner from Abercrombie %26amp; Fitch.) Cash only.

finding great info just reading all posts and not even needing to ask my own questions! however i have two .

1. what price would a taxi be (roughly ) from embassy suites to jersey gardens ?

2 what time is dusk in jan ?

thanks

GWB said be specific in your queries.

Where is Jersey Gardens?

With your guidebook find places you have heard of and may be interested in visiting, make up a tentative itinerary and post it and have it critiqued on the Forum.

Hep us, help you!

Sorry I forgot about dusk - it starts getting dark around 4:30 PM (1630). I presume this is what you meant?

And for the cost of a taxi ride, there are variables, time in traffic, etc....

So we need to know starting and ending specific locations.
