The former owner of the 2nd Avenue Deli is buying a building at 33rd Street and 3rd Avenue. The word is it will be the site for a new 2nd Avenue Deli run by nephews of the former owner. I guess they will have to call it the 2nd Avenue Deli on 3rd Avenue.
2nd Avenue Deli ReopeningAbout a week or two ago, NYCgirl posted a thread about this. Voy also posted a link to a newspaper article about it. So has anything changed since? Will it definitely be opening? If so, when?

Re: odd restaurant names. There happens to be another Jewish delicatessen called Essex on Coney - meaning '; Essex Street (L.E.S.) on Coney Island Avenue (Brooklyn)';. They opened another one on Trinity Place, downtown, which is now called Essex on Coney - Downtown.
