My wife and I were planning on going to vegas but for some reason the rates are sky high. I know there is gambling in Niagra, but what else is there to do that would be fun?
Weekend getaway
In Niagara Falls, NY, there is Seneca Casino, and in Niagara Falls, Ontario there is Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara. All are large Vegas style complexes with plenty of gambling, entertainment, shopping, hotels, etc.
The Canadian side is more developed than its U.S. counterpart. At this time of year, on this side of the border, some attractions include: the Falls and surrounding park (probably coated in ice and snow), Journey Behind the Falls, Butterfly Conservatory, Bird Kingdom, Skylon Tower, Imax Theater, Skywheel, Greg Frewin Dinner Theater, Fallsview Indoor Water Park, Niagara on the Lake (historic, quaint village 15 miles away), Clifton Hill area with museums (Tussauds, Ripleys, Guinness, etc) restaurants and clubs. You can check the Niagara Falls Ontario forum for more info.
And - no passports required when crossing by land - just drivers license and birth certificates.
