New York City Hotel

We are going to New York City in July and would like to find a nice, clean hotel for under $200. Does anyone have any suggestions?

New York City Hotel

Prices in July are usually affordable but finding a nice place for under $200 (remember tax is about 15% over the prices usually quoted on websites) can be a challenge. How many of you are there and how long will you stay? If just 2 of you and less than a week, bidding on Priceline is a great way to get a 4* hotel at $150 or less/night. But you MUST read biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com first and understand a free rebid before trying this.

Meantime, quikbook.com is a good site for prices and the affinia.com group of hotels are all nice and all suite hotels. It looks like the Affinia Manhattan would fit your budget in July but there are sure to be other options too.

Travelzoo.com is a great site for specials, but they only post 1-3 months before your travel dates so it would be too early now. YOu might reserve something cancellable now and wait to either bid on Priceline or look for other deals. If you are an AAA member you can also find some good offers at some of the chain hotels.

Radiocityapartments.com is a very popular budget hotel that gets booked quickly. If they have a room for your dates, you might want to book that and then do some more looking.

If you%26#39;re driving, the Travel Inn is the only hotel in Manhattan with free parking. Although I notice Jet Blue has some amazingly cheap airfares from Pittsburgh right you. YOu can fly for less than $80/person roundtrip.

How many are in your party? We just stayed at the Comfort Inn Midtown for $139/night. It was a AAA rate, but they have other discount rates available, too. We had a room with one queen size bed. If you need two beds, the rate was higher but was still under $200. These prices, however, are without tax. The tax added about $24 a night. This hotel was a great location, right in Times Square. It was also very clean. They have a free breakfast in the morning that was okay, but the breakfast room was pretty small. We were able to get a table the first morning but the second day was crowded. We were able to walk to a lot of places because of the great location of this hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

Hi, SusieQPittsburgh.

I thought yinz should know that I%26#39;m also from the %26#39;burgh.

I recently bid successfully on priceline.com and received Le Parker Meridien for 3 nights at $133 a night...with tax $475.35...this was from July 1st-4th.

BUT, as noted, you really have to know what you%26#39;re doing.

Consult biddingfortravel.com and/or ask for help from someone who has had experience on that site.

You should be able to get a 4 star hotel for under $200.

Good Luck n%26#39;at.
