I am going to New York end February with my daughter (so excited). We want to do a few tours whilst there. Should we pre book on one of the sites available? My daughter was an avid fan of S and the city, one of the tours we want to try. Anyone out there tried this tour?
tours etc. book before we travel??
Several people have done the tour and all seem to like it. There%26#39;s a text search function just above where you can look for mentions/reviews. Here%26#39;s just one

Whether to book in advance depends on which tour and whether your days/dates are flexible. For example, the Tenement Museum is small and has become very popular. If you want to go there you might book that in advance. If you want to do the Kingofnyc.com or nypartyshuttle.com tours and are not flexible with days/dates, those can also fill up b/c buses are smaller.
But things like the hop on/off bus tours don%26#39;t need to be booked in advance (although there may be some discount if you do so check online).
There are some discount promotions going on right now--

Check them out as there might be discounts for some of the tours you want or shows.

My friend and I went on a TV %26amp; movie locations tour last March (run by the same company that does the SATC tour) and several people turned up without reservations - I think they were able to acommodate a couple of extra people, but most were turned away, so I would advise pre-booking to be on the safe side! (I used the website www.zerve.com to book our tickets, but there are a couple of different websites about, so it might be worth shopping around to see if you can save a couple of dollars!)
The tour I went on was very good - the guide was great (and funny) and knew his stuff, so I%26#39;d definitely recommend it (and I%26#39;ve also heard good things about the SATC tour)! You%26#39;ll probably find it most beneficial in the first day or two of your holiday as it%26#39;s a good way of getting an overview of the layout of the city and a small flavour of some of the different neighbourhoods.
The Circle Line tours are also good (www.circleline.com) - you can do a half-loop of the island during the day or at night or a full (3hr) circuit of Manhattan - we did the night-time cruise and the views were amazing (but be prepared for the possibility of it being VERY cold on the outer part of the deck!) You don%26#39;t necessarily have to pre-book for this - we reserved it on the day of the tour and there still seemed to be plenty of space on the boat (may have had something to do with the weather at the time!)
If you want to do the Helicopter tour and maybe the Empire state building then book in advance.
The rest wait till you get there.
