Restaurant recommendations

Hi

26 year old traveling to new york Feb 14th with my boyfriend for 4 nights and need restaurents (and a good bar/club) for 3 of the nights. Any ideas for good, not to touristy places. We%26#39;re staying in midtown but have no probs movin within manhatten and heard soho/the villiage are good spots.

Entree price range $15-25 would be good

Will eat most food types (not sushi only), but not looking for big steakhouse/burger places. Love Thai and mexican.

Hoping to do a show one night so somewhere in theater district (prob near st. james theater) and goin to Harlem Globtrotters in MSG another so somewhere near that would also be good.

We already booked a dinner cruise for the 14th on Bateaux ship - anyone know if its any good.

Also do you really have to book restaurants very far in advance or is the day before ok. Cant see us booking them all before we even get there.

Thanks for any info

Well - I reckon you have not check out the many options this website offers, restaurants, hotels, bars etc. If I were you that is the first thing I would do.

Secondly - can%26#39;t say if the Feb 14th Bateaux cruise is any good - you%26#39;ll have to judge that for yourself.

You are looking for non-touristy things to do, this cruise certainly is not one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for booking restaurants in advance, you seem to have no idea of where you would like to eat, go to menupages.com for help, please.

And no, I would wait until you get to NYC to make rezzies, there are literally thousands of restaurants in the City, I was in a couple of weeks ago and in a 4 block area on 9th Avenue I counted 45 places to eat!

As for accommodations in a specific area, once again use this websites offerings, they are in the column to the left of this area.

Do you have tickets for the Globetrotters?

MSG is on 34th while B%26#39;Way is around 42nd, not far from each other, but not next door.

You would probably be wise to get a map and or a guidebook of the City to get oriented.

For sushi I love Tomoe at 172 Thompson Street between Bleecker %26amp; Houston Street. They don%26#39;t take reservations and there will probably be a line outside. The fish is super fresh and the prices aren%26#39;t that bad for sushi/sashimi. It is also right next door to Lupa an excellent Italian restaurant owned by Mario Batali (the Italian Iron Chef). These two places are in the West Village on the edge of SoHo so you can walk around and take in the area too. You also might head either to Bleecker Street or McDougal and find a coffee house after your meal.

For Thai you can either go to Pam Real Thai on 49th Strret between 9th and 10th Avenue or, if you are feeling more adventurous, Sripaphai in Queens (64-13 39th Avenue) take the #7 Flushing line to 61st street-Woodside station and walk over to 64th Street and then one block over from Roosevelt Avenue to 39th Ave. The #7 line is nicknamed the Orient Express because it goes through little India in Jackson Heights, Elmhurst which has a large mixed Asian population and Flushing which has a big Korean/Chinese population. Sripaphai was once a favorite of Thai people (though it is now overrun by falang) and the food tends to be more authentic and spiced coerrectly. You%26#39;ll still see plenty of Thai people also eating there. It%26#39;s also a good idea to get outside Manhattan for a view of a Queens neighborhood.

Thanks for that

Looked up Pam Real Thai on menupages and it looks perfect. We%26#39;ll def give it a try

We had the pre-theatre dinner at 21 Club when we were there - it%26#39;s a great choice if you%26#39;re seeing a show. When you arrive, they ask if you%26#39;re going to the theatre and ensure you%26#39;re served speedily and have plenty of time to make your show. We even had time to Wander round Rockefeller and see the tree at night before seeing Phantom when we went. And at $40 for three courses, it%26#39;s great value!! And it%26#39;s also a great restaurant.

Check out 21club.com

:-)

Thanks kayelly

Any recomendations for somewhere near madison sq garden for pre game good casual food

Also a nice restaurant around the village/soho for a romantic dinner. Not familiar with the areas but heard they were nice for dinner, drink and a walk around
