Great Restaurant Near Natural History Museum?

Can anyone suggest a great restaurant near the Natural History Museum where my children and I can have lunch this Sunday? We are coming in to NYC to meet some friends and we want a fun, nice place to eat that%26#39;s not outrageously expensive. My kids are 6 and 11. THANKS.

I found this site useful as i%26#39;m staying in the same street for my visit in March as the NHM

You might like the Arte Cafe on West 73rd, about 6-7 blocks south of the museum. It%26#39;s good place for brunch where children are welcome. I think the website is something like artecafenyc. Nice Matin is also good, and closer, but also more expensive, and possibly not as good a place with the kids., but you might want to check that out as well. Wherever you decide to go, make a reservation.

There%26#39;s many places in the area...a few good ones that come to time would be Sarabeth%26#39;s on 80th St. and Amsterdam or even Good Enough to Eat (very child-friendly...into %26#39;cow%26#39; displays everywhere w/a great country feel to it) at Amsterdam Ave as well between 83 %26amp; 84th Streets....Enjoy!

I second Arte Cafe - we go there each time we%26#39;re in the city, and have always had great meals. Also really enjoyed Isabella%26#39;s on the corner of 77th %26amp; Columbus. I don%26#39;t know if your kids are girls, but we LOVED Alice%26#39;s Tea Cup on 73rd right next door to Arte Cafe. It%26#39;s got fantastic scones, lots of great teas, good food, and what I really liked about it was that the waitresses wore fairy wings, which made it really fun (okay, I%26#39;m over 50, and still love that magical stuff). They had all kinds of gifts and things for kids, and I thought at the time if I had kids or grand-kids, I would definitely go there all the time, it was just so much fun. It%26#39;s quite small and busy on weekends, but I think it would be just so great for children. http://www.alicesteacup.com/enter.html

My fave for burgers is Big Nick%26#39;s, on Broadway around 76th Street. It%26#39;s very quirky, a great value, but decidedly downscale.

They won%26#39;t care if you rip the vynil seats, because they%26#39;ll just replace the old silver duct tape very easily! But, the burgers and fries (and pizza, chicken wings, etc) can%26#39;t be beat in that nabe.

I second Sarabeth%26#39;s.
